Melanie Klein (née Reizes; 30 March 1882 – 22 September 1960) was an Austrian-British author and psychoanalyst known for her work in child analysis. She was the primary figure in the development of object relations theory. Richard Arthur Wollheim was born in London on May 5, 1923. He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University. He taught philosopy at University College, London from 1949-1982. He also taught at Columbia University from 1982-1985, and at U.C. Berkeley from 1985 until his death on November 4, 2003. He held a chair in philosophy and humanities at U.C. Davis from 1989-1996.
